LRAC Is A Long Time Supporter Of The Lewes After School Project
(LASP). LASP is a project supported by the Lewes Presbyterian Church in partnership with Richard A. Shields Elementary School and the Cape Henlopen School District. The program serves 30 students in grade 1-5 who are having difficulty achieving academic success. Teachers identify who would benefit and tell parents about the program. Parents who choose the program enter into an enrollment agreement with LASP. The program follows the local school schedule. A school bus brings students to the program at 3:30 pm, and parents pick them up at 6 pm. Beyond focusing on a child's academic or behavioral limitations, LASP focuses on helping the child look at his or her own potential through a variety of educational tools and experiences.
